365 Photos

I' ve been in a slump. Creating makes me happy so I've decided to commit to creating every day. I plan to take at least one photo every day. I'm not going to get technical with these shots - I don't have the equipment for that - they'll just be everyday shots of my life. I'm going to get ideas from the Photo Idea Index by Jim Krause though to help get creative shots. The first bit of the book is on point of view. The goal for this week is to take shots at different angles and just try new things.

I've also joined the Layout a Day Challenge for the month of Janaury at Big Picture Scrapbooking. It's day 4 and so far so good! It makes me happy to just commit to putting something down on the page rather than fret about how "good" it will look when it's finished. Love that the time constraints totally make this no pressure scrapping!

Festive Paperclips!

Today's project was super quick. I cut cardstock mats for some old Christmas stickers I found in my stash and sandwiched half a paperclip between the cardstock and the sticker to make festive clips to use at work this month! Once again inspired by Sarah Bowen's class. Today's photo was of Lauren working on a Christmas gift. Can't share that photo just in case the recipient reads this blog but I'll share the photo of the day taken on the 1st.

Days of December

Christmas seems to come and go in a blur every year. This year I am determined to focus on enjoying the preparation as much as the celebration! Each day in December I am attempting to do one little thing that I find FUN and make a note of it. I'm also going to try and do a photo a day journal for the month.

So far...

December 1st - transfer all Christmas CD's on to Itune and made a playlist on Ipod and photo of frost on window
December 2nd - made 12 quick gift tags inspired by a class from Sarah Bowen and photos by tree!

Hope you take time to enjoy your preparations and make time for fun, friends and play this month!

Curtain update!

Well, I dyed the curtains.... What a LOT of work!!! Warning, it takes four complete wash cycles most with you there to stop machine before spin cycle to complete dying. Multiple that by three for me because of the number of curtain panels and you total a LONG day in the laundry room! They look OK...but unfortunately they shrunk so they are too short now. I'm going to leave them up for now but I'll be looking for new curtains.

Still don't have my new chairs and I'm upset about that because I really wanted them here by November 30th. Nothing I can do though so I'll just have to wait until they arrive. They are supposed to be here next week.

New sofa!

This is my new sofa! So excited to bring it home today. It looks great in the living room although I still need to change the curtains and our new chairs aren't in yet. Right now the curtains are a natural linen color which doesn't complement the sofa very well. I want to change them to chocolate brown but haven't found any I'm crazy about yet. I think I'm going to try dyeing the ones I have now and hope for the best! Also picked up some chocolate brown cushions and two aqua and brown striped cushions for the sofa at Pier One when we got the sofa.

First Blog Post

"Seek wonder in the ordinary." One of the quotes that speaks to me. Reminds me why I scrapbook, because I want to remember the ordinary times and find them wonderful. Reminds me of what I use to scrapbook, just ordinary paper, scissors and glue that I can turn into something wonderful. Reminds me that it's enough to be ordinary as long as I find wonder in the moment.
